Discussion with Professor Sarah Brayne, Sociology, UT-Austin

February 5, 2021
9:30 am - 11:00 am

We look forward to hosting Professor Sarah Brayne of UT Austin’s Sociology department for a discussion on Friday, February 5, at 9:30 AM CST. Professor Brayne’s work focuses on how law enforcement agencies leverage big data technologies to expand surveillance in the form of “predictive policing,” and her book, Predict and Surveil: Data, Discretion, and the Future of Policing, was recently released by Oxford University Press. In 2017, she launched the Texas Prison Education Initiative. We are looking forward to a discussion at the intersections of education, incarceration, surveillance, and technology. All are welcome.
